On June 8, the annual GMBA Unity Ball was held at Taipei Caesar Metro Hotel. It was a big celebration honouring all students and professors from the GMBA community, welcoming the new students, alumni and revisiting all that has been accomplished in the past year.
Before the official beginning of the dinner, a networking reception with some canapés and drinks was served at the entrance. Dressed elegantly and with a glass of wine or tea in their hands, students started to socialize and network through animated conversation & photo taking at the main event backdrop. Meanwhile others were busy with a little game of “guess who is who”, about a selection of students’ and professors’ cute childhood photos to match to their current looks. What a challenge! But how much adorable to see! Moreover, the student council team was welcoming everyone individually, finalizing the last touches of the event preparation and taking photos of incoming visitors.
With the opening by Dana Shires (as a handover from the EVP of student council R06 batch), a video featuring GMBA lives as a series of photos capturing beautiful moments of GMBA family from all kinds of occasions, such as overseas study trips, Dragon boat festival, Halloween party, mentor gathering and graduation ceremony was broadcasted. Then, Kai Shang as the current president of the GMBA student council gave his speech to welcome all students, alumni, professors and distinguished guests, and wished everyone an enjoyable evening in the spirit of honouring and uniting everyone under one roof. The representative of our sponsor --Easy Card Corp, Alice Chen (Manager, Department of Public Affairs) also offered an engaging speech, introducing their company and distributing gifts to students participating in her Q&A.
After the warm-up, Lara and Chiongwei (EVP of student council 2020), took on the emcee roles to introduce next session — the appreciation of NTU GMBA professors with a bouquet of flowers presented by members of the current R07 batch. This was followed by a speech from Professor Charlie Chen, the GMBA programme director, in which he expressed his gratitude to all students for their hard work, extracurricular activities and inspiring achievements. What also impressed him was our students’ spirit of study hard & play hard, taking advantage of their studies but also enjoying the time with fellow classmates. With a glass of wine, Professor Charlie toasted to all guests for the wonderful evening and initiated the dinner. Overall 11 round tables accommodated more than 110 guests. Scrumptious food (both Chinese food and western cuisine) one after another were delivered to tables while on the stage, three dance performances containing ballet, ethnic style, and modern dance were presented by the Alumni Association of Chinese Culture University Dance Department and Julian Dance Group. While audience were enjoying the diverse visual journey, groups mingled, cheered and filled the room with chatter, laughter and toasting to alumni and the past student council who were also honoured with certificates that evening. To finalize the evening, a rather exciting lucky draw session started. In total, 15 prizes (i.e., Montblanc leather cardholder and Bose speakers, Japanese Sake and more prize from our sponsors) were won. Lastly, the group photo gave a chance to capture everyone that joined our GMBA Family event, a memory to cherish and enjoy.
Based on the feedback of students and professors, guests were impressed by the heartfelt nature of the event and spoke highly of the arrangements. As student council, made this evening possible through the engagement and positive energy of the entire GMBA OHANA to another year of unity, networking, work hard & play hard together!
