GMBA OB and FR Courses' Company Visit to Family Mart

 GMBA students from the class Organization Behavior and Financial Reporting visited the logistics centers Family Mart, operated by RE-YI Distribution Service Co and Taiwan Distribution Center Co in Taoyuan Daxi on December 8. A RE-Yi representative is a GMBA student taken the Organization Behavior class and assisted in arranging this offsite class to help students gain insight into convenience stores' logistics networks. According to a detailed presentation about its company history, RE-YI's Daxi facility is the largest logistics center of Family Mart in Taiwan, covering an area of 20,000 square meters. Followed by a physical facility walkthrough, the tour offered GMBA students an opportunity to explore a multi-layer logistics warehouse, including average temperature, refrigerated and frozen commodity logistics, and e-commerce package processing. GMBA students learned that the Daxi facility plays an essential role in Family Mart's logistics network in the north and provides commodity distribution services to more than 1,500 store locations in the north. At the same time, Family Mart operates more than 3,440 stores in Taiwan. The continuous upgrade of Family Mart's Technology Retail is worth mentioning. Throughout the whole facility, GMBA students can easily find how innovative technology helps the Daxi facility significantly increase the speed and freshness of Family Mart’s product delivery and to achieve an intelligent smart supply chain. First-hand demonstrations of automated package tracking and robots that reduce human error were available for GMBA students to observe. Additionally, RE-YI and Taiwan Distribution's management team was impressed by the GMBA students' passion and insightful questions during the Q&A session. Aside from the company visit, GMBA students are grateful for RE-YI Distribution Service's warm and thoughtful arrangements, especially the considerate bilingual tour and afternoon sweets following the facility tour.
