My Industrial Mentoring Program experience
My Industrial Mentoring Program experience

GMBA is unique in a way that the student body in comprised of diverse group of students, who are pursuing new challenges and striving to reach the next levels in their career. As part of the efforts to support and council the students in this journey, GMBA professors Ming Daw Cheng and Charles JK Chang have set up Industrial Mentoring Program (IMP). They are both well experienced and have great insights to part to our students and this program is a great tool to accomplish this. The program started its trial run from October 2020.

For the first activity, we had a company visit to AVerMedia Technologies and Aver Information in November. Both companies are among the successful Taiwanese technology companies competing and putting their mark in the global market. Upon arrival they greeted us with warm welcome and shared on how they operate and about the market they compete in. After thorough introduction to the companies and their advanced products and manufacturing process, our GMBA students left having gained real life insight into the business of a Taiwanese company.

Once we were familiar with the companies and our interests sparked both companies forwarded career opportunity information. And shortly after several interviews were scheduled with our GMBA students. One of the students were myself, interviewing for the marketing position at AVerMedia Technologies. I’d like to think that the Industrial Mentoring Program got a good result from its pilot period. It was mutually beneficial to the GMBA program and companies that are participating. On the one hand our students get good exposure and gain insights into the company’s business. On the other hand, the companies get to know great pool of local and international talent that can contribute to their business and growth. And it’s my pleasure to state this as a marketing manager for Russia region at AVerMedia Technologies.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for the department and the professors for taking action in enriching the GMBA program and starting to build this bridge between the talents in the program and the companies.
