About Speaker:

Mr. Simon Wong Wie kuen is the Trade Representative of the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei.  Mr. Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Social Science in Sociology (Honours) in 1990. He obtained his Master of Arts in East Asian studies from Cornell University, USA in 1998.

’s Headquarters, Mr. Wong covered several portfolios including Western Europe and China. He was appointed Director/Americas from April 2005 to July 2007. He was also concurrently appointed Director/Europe (May 2005 to February 2006) and subsequently Director/Northeast Asia from April 2006 to January 2009. Prior to his appointment as Trade Representative, he held the position of Deputy Secretary (International) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Mr. Wong joined the Singapore Foreign Service in 1990. In the Ministry's Headquarters, Mr. Wong covered several portfolios including Western Europe and China. He was appointed Director/Americas from April 2005 to July 2007. He was also concurrently appointed Director/Europe (May 2005 to February 2006) and subsequently Director/Northeast Asia from April 2006 to January 2009. Prior to his appointment as Trade Representative, he held the position of Deputy Secretary (International) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
