GMBA showcased its growing international appeal this past weekend, hosting a successful hybrid Admission Info Session on December 13 that drew over 80 prospective students from around the globe.
The event, held at the College of Management and simultaneously streamed online, attracted 51 in-person attendees and 34 online participants, reflecting the program's dual focus on local connection and global reach. The session offered a comprehensive look into the "Top University of Taiwan" flagship English-taught MBA, blending administrative insights with authentic student narratives.
The session opened with remarks from Dean Chialin Chen, who highlighted NTU's standing as a premier research institution and its vital role in the Asian business ecosystem. Director Bryan Jean followed, outlining the strategic vision of the GMBA program. He emphasized the curriculum’s unique position at the intersection of Western management theory and Asian business practice, a selling point for students looking to pivot their careers toward the Greater China region.
Practical advice was a key component of the first half. Cory Perkins walked potential applicants through the nuances of the application system, offering tips on how to craft a compelling narrative for the admissions committee. This was complemented by Jenny Wu’s vibrant presentation on student life, painting a picture of a close-knit community that balances academic rigor with cultural immersion and social networking.
The event’s second half shifted focus to the personal "GMBA experience," featuring perspectives from both faculty and alumni. Professor Leon van Jaarsveldt provided a candid look at the program through a foreigner's lens. His insights on navigating Taiwan’s academic and business culture resonated strongly with international applicants in the audience, many of whom are considering relocating to Taipei for their studies.
Real-world application was the theme of the student sharing session. Vivi Hsu detailed her participation in business competitions, illustrating how the program pushes students to apply classroom theory in high-pressure environments. Rounding out the afternoon, alumnus Sean Shin, the winner of Youtube show "中文怪物 Mandarin Monster", shared his journey of career transformation. Shin discussed how the GMBA served as a catalyst for his career path change, offering concrete examples of the development opportunities available to graduates post-graduation.
The high level of engagement and interest shown during the session signals robust demand for NTU’s GMBA for the upcoming academic year. This strong interest underscores a growing trend among professionals seeking to secure a competitive advantage and meaningful career advancement within Asia’s dynamic business landscape.
