GMBA Office is dedicated to students career paths by offering significant professional growth programs. One of these events was a dialogue with an industry leader that the office arranged for the students on March 11, 2025, in which Prof. Chaney Ho, the director and co-founder of Advantech, was present. GMBA students had a chance to talk about their own transformation with the speakers whose main interests were career paths transitions, selfimprovement, and new ways of gaining an advantage in today’s tight job market.

In contrast to traditional speeches, Prof. Ho preferred a conversation tone, encouraging an open discussion where students could ask questions about their career paths and professional growth. He took the time to address many of our concerns, offering thoughtful answers and practical advice. By answering all our questions and doubts he suggested to us that we should be deeply introspective as our careers, strengths, and unique value propositions. During the dialogue one key point he emphasized was the importance of self-awareness in making career decisions. He told us to first find out what is unique about us if we want to apply for a job or go into a new industry. Instead of following the crowd and doing what is considered trendy, he encouraged us to first ask ourselves: What are my strong sides? What makes me different from others? In what way can I use my strenghs to get the opportunities I desire? According to him, an employer wants someone who brings something unique and useful to the business, not someone who only fulfills a job description.

Moreover, Prof. Ho put great emphasis on the fact that we should choose a career that we are truly passionate about. For Mr. Ho, passion is an excellence initiator. If we enjoy our work, we will automatically transfer our time, energy, and, consequently, we will gain greater reputation in our careers. This mindset is not only the path to career success but also the path to personal development. Prof. Chaney Ho’s talk left a strong impression, pushing us to think more about our career choices and what truly drives us. He emphasized the importance of understanding our strengths and choosing a path that not only challenges us but also brings genuine satisfaction. His insights reminded us that success isn’t just about reaching milestones it’s about doing work that aligns with who we are. Thanks to the GMBA Office, we have opportunities like this to learn from industry leaders, reflect on our goals, and shape careers that feel both meaningful and fulfilling.
